Rui Carmo describes those mechanisms that browser authors really should have addressed by now. I agree with every single item.

  1. I’d add to this list that browsers should also support fluid multi-column content natively (think newspaper pages). I know that some websites achieve this via Javascript and I know that there is a CSS3 module in the works, but no browser currently supports this.

    Oh yeah - and roundrects would be nice too!
